Development Update: Building the Software Behind the InSite Pro

Hardware development on the InSite Pro continues to move forward - you can see the latest on that here - so this time we're pulling back the curtain on the software side: specifically, the user interfaces on both the device and the app.
Designing for the Jobsite
The InSite Pro isn't like other tools in your truck. It's a connected product - which means the hardware is only part of the story. There's also the screen you interact with on the device, an app on your phone, a way to store and access your scans from anywhere, and the security to keep your data yours. Each piece has to be well-designed, and they all have to work together.
That's a real design challenge in the construction industry, where tools need to perform in conditions that are anything but ideal. The person picking up the InSite Pro might be a seasoned pro or someone using it for the very first time - and either way, they're probably working fast, in a tight space, or standing in front of a client. The tool just has to work, and that's the bar we're designing to - every tap obvious, every screen readable at a glance, nothing slowing you down when it counts.
Preview: Device and App User Interface
Here’s a look at some of the core screens we’ve been building (check out our video here):
InSite Pro Home Screen

The home screen has one job: get you into a scan quickly. In-wall scanning is the default mode, but if you have the thermal camera accessory connected, you'll also see thermal imaging and camera photo modes available to switch to with a single tap. Users with the optional subscription plan will also have a shortcut to their Library where they can view all previously saved scans and images.
Live View

Once you've started an in-wall scan and have moved the device across the surface, this is what you'll see. Studs, pipes, wires, and other objects begin appearing on screen in real time as the InSite Pro picks them up. A simple crosshair and leveling indicator help with precision when marking critical points, and a live "stitch" shows you the full wall area coming together as you work your way across for context as you scan.
Mark Mode

The InSite Pro is built with a notch at the top to allow for pencil marking of critical points. Because this notch is offset from the screen, there is a feature called Mark Mode to make accurate marking straightforward. In Mark Mode, you select a point of interest during your scan, and the device then guides you to align the top notch precisely to that same point. No guessing, no re-measuring - just a clear, guided process that gets you where you need to mark.
Resolv App

As a connected device, the InSite Pro supports over-the-air firmware updates, scans and images saved to the cloud, and access to your data from anywhere. That's where the app comes in. With the Resolv app, you can view and share scans, keep track of your InSite Pros and keep your devices updated, all while on the go.
For users with the optional subscription, the home screen will feature your most recent scans. Easily navigate to the gallery where all past scans and images are ready to browse, view in detail or share with other pros on the job, the client, or whoever needs to see them.
The home screen will also feature alerts and reminders to make sure you’re getting the most out of your InSite Pros.
We're proud of the progress we've made, and honestly, we're excited about how it's all coming together. Seeing the device interface and app start to feel like a cohesive experience - one that we think will genuinely make the job easier - is a great feeling.
As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts. If you have ideas, questions, or feedback on what you've seen, reach out to us at support@resolvtools.com.
